Here is a dig from the past for all the DSP fans out there. This is an interview of DSP after the success of Anandam.

Could you throw some light on your background? How did you get interested in music?
Though I was born in Amalapuram, I was brought up in Chennai. Script writer Satya Murthy gaaru is my father. I studied up to BBA. My father is also a good singer and music director, though he became popular as a writer. My grandmother Devi Meenakshi is also a good classical musician. So, I think my interest in music is hereditary. I got several prizes in light music and dance competitions since my childhood.
Did you learn proper music from any teacher?
I learnt mandolin from Mandolin Srinivas for over 10 years. I taught keyboard myself.
How did you enter cinema field?
I used to compose tunes for college functions. I gave music to 50-50, a serial on Gemini TV and lent my voice to its title song. I also recorded a music album for MagnaSound. Producer M S Raju, who used to come to our home regularly for discussions with my father, saw all this and just like that gave a song to me and asked me to compose tune for it. I composed a tune and he liked it very much. Immediately he offered music direction for his ongoing film Devi to me. So…that was my entry into the film world.

Music director Devi Sri Prasad has the nation dancing to his tunes with the B-town remix of his Telugu hit track,Ringa RingaRinga Ringa Prasad has a new title now Dinka Chika Devi. The peppiest music composer in Tollywood,Devi Sri Prasad is now creating waves

after he repackaged his hit,Ringa Ringa from Arya 2 as Dinka Chika in the S

alman Khanstarrer Ready. He talks about the song that got him instant fame nationally. When I performed to Ringa Ringa in Mumbai,Salman came backstage and hugged me.He told me he liked it so much that he kept listening to it on loop.Even music director Preetham told me I created a monster with

this song, says a beaming Devi, who initially wanted to use the words Ringa Ringa in the Hindi version too.

But since it was already popular,we modified it to Dhinka Chika, he adds. This song, which is number one on the charts now,is not Devis first mass hit.His song,Aaa Ante Amalapuram is popular in UP and Bihar.Musician Baba Sehghal was once surprised to hear the track being played in a night club in Ams
terdam.I use familiar buzz words which are catchy, says Devi, who is apparently charging a cool 1.5 crore for every film. They wont pay me if Im not in demand. All I can say is,its a good rumor, he quips. If Bollywood is in Dinka
Chika mode, even Tollywood is Dealo Dealo over him, after he repeated his hit formula with Mr Perfect and 100 % Love. I sit with the audience in theatres and observe their reactions to the music. It gives me an idea of what they like.Besides,if I still enjoy what I composed even after a long time,I am sure itll click, says
Devi, who has even penned quirky lyrics for songs like Akalesthe Annam Pedatha (I will feed you when youre hungry ).I wrote the lyrics when I was hungry and it soon became an anthem, he quips.Devi has his eyes set on acting too.My fans keep asking me to act in movies. But if I ever do one,my role should be convincing. It should be a musical film like Western musicians star in, he adds.
