Biography

 Devi Sri Prasad,popularly known as DSP, has been a sensational music composer in south India for the past decade. He made his way through the ups and downs of his career but never let his guard down.He is now considered the top music director of  Tollywood.He started his career with a music album Dance Party, along with S. P. B. Charan and a few more debutants at the time.He made his entry into film industry in 1999 with a telugu movie album ‘Devi’ .Since then there was no looking back for this young music sensation.

 Devi Sri Prasad was born in Vedurupaka, East Godavari District,Andhra Pradesh on August 2nd,1979 and later moved to Chennai,Tamil Nadu.His father is Satya Murthy the noted Telugu scriptwriter, composer and singer. He has a younger brother named Sagar who is also a playback singer. He completed his schooling at Sir M. Venkata Subba Rao Boys High School, T. Nagar, Chennai. He won several prizes in the culturals organised at inter-school level for both dance and singing competitions. He was a disciple of the renowned mandolinist, U. Srinivas.He found his interest in music right at a very young age and has drawn inspiration from none other than music maestro,Ilaiyaraaja.

He won many awards till date in both telugu and tamil. He won Film Fare Award for Best Music Director  Telugu for 3 years in a row for the movies Varsham(2004), Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana(2005) and Bommarillu(2006) respectively. He also received other awards like Santosham Awards,Maa Music Awards,Music Mirchi Awards for his other projects as well.

Apart from being a music director he is also a Singer and a Lyricist. He has written lyrics to songs like “Vecha Vechaga” in Vamsi , “Premante Yemitante” in Anandam, “Chaila Chaila” in Shankar Dada MBBS, “Udayinche Suryudinadigaa”, “Akaasam” in Kalusukovaalani to mention a few.He also got praises from Megastar himself for his lyrics for the song “Chaila Chaila”.

Recently he entered Bollywood by composing a song ‘Dhinka Chika’ for the film Ready.The song is a remake of his hit song ‘Ringa Ringa’ from Arya2.The song has gained tremendous  popularity all over the country since its release.In an interview “few sites listed this song under top10 remakes in hindi” ,DSP said.

“Where there is DSP, there is energy”is what people say.He reflects his energy through his songs and as long as he is there he lets his music do the talking.His music is here to stay for many years to come.
